ELIZA among the organisations to be supported by the Active Citizens Fund

ELIZA is one of the organizations that will obtain support in the context of the Active Citizens Fund program. The Bodosakis Foundation, with its vision of a society of equal opportunities with possibilities and prospects for all, and the non-governmental organisation Solidarity Now, which aims at safeguarding the rights of the most vulnerable and marginalised groups without discrimination, are Fund Operators for Greece. They have announced the civil society organisations that have been selected for receiving grants amounting to 3.5 million Euro in total. The selection of the projects was made transparently and based on merit at all stages of the procedure.

What is the Active Citizens Fund

It is a program, totalling twelve million Euro, aiming at strengthening and supporting the viability of Civil Society and showcasing its role in advancing democratic processes, reinforcing citizen participation in public affairs and defending human rights. The Active Citizens Fund is financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and is part of the European Economic Area (EEA) grants for the period 2014 – 2021.

A grant of 3.5 million EUR will be directed in this period towards the implementation of 45 projects, which were selected from among 202 applications submitted. The selected projects will be realised in large urban centres as well as in rural areas, islands and remote regions, to strengthen -countrywide or in targeted local communities- Civil Society throughout Greece.
